Alas, we do not live in a perfect world and we must make choices on a regular basis. One fairly new option is the possibility to buy medications online rather than buying them from a local pharmacy. Here are some points to ponder for people that are considering going the online route.

Face to Face Communication

Some people are just more comfortable talking to a pharmacist face to face. These people typically have questions and want to see the person in order to get their questions answered. For people that do not necessarily need this type of communication, an online pharmacy can be a great alternative. Authentic online pharmacies employee licensed pharmacists that are available to answer questions and provide information about medication and possible interactions. Also, people that have been taking a prescription for an extended period of time with no adverse side effects may like the convenience of using the online purchase.

Time Saving

Some people like having the ability to pick up a prescription from their local doctor and then take it to their local pharmacy to pick up the medication. However, there are people that live further from the major towns and cities where there is no quick access to pharmacies. For these people, a good option might be the online pharmacy Canada. Canada has several online companies that provide quick and secure shipment of the prescriptions in order to accommodate the needs of a wide range of people. Another advantage that the online pharmacy prescription has over the local pharmacy is access around the clock. People that have previously submitted their prescriptions to the online pharmacist and need to order their refill can simply log on to the site, click a few buttons and their prescription will be filled. For people that keep late hours or prefer to do their business on the weekends this can be a big help.

Registered Pharmacists

Whenever a person needs to purchase medicine prescribed specifically by a doctor for a certain condition, they need to be sure they are dealing with a licensed professional. A local pharmacy will display the credentials of their staff so that customers can be sure they are working with properly trained individuals. Online pharmacies also use licensed staff. The customer needs to do their homework first and make sure that the staff has the proper credentials and that the pharmacy itself is properly licensed. A governing board that issues a license to do business as a pharmacy should have a list of its customers that operate the online outlets.

People have different tastes and tendencies that make us all unique. But most people enjoy using services that make our lives more convenient, especially if they are competitively priced. For anyone that has a need for prescription medication on a fairly routine basis it might be a great time to check out one of the excellent online pharmacies offered in Canada.

Chemokines play vital roles in inflammation and cancer

Medicine

Cancer

Chemokine receptors

Chemokines

inflammation
<guid

Their name is derived from their ability to induce directed chemotaxis in nearby responsive cells. The major role of chemokines is to act as a chemoattractant to guide the migration of cells. Cells that are attracted by chemokines follow a signal of increasing chemokine concentration towards the source of the chemokine. The chemokine family currently includes some 45 human ligands and 19 receptors, although this list may grow as more chemokine/receptor like candidate genes exist in the human genome. Each chemokine contains 65 ~ 120 amino acids, with molecular weight of 8 ~ 10 kD.

Chemokine receptors belong to G-protein-coupled receptors. However, cells can only respond to a chemokine in a given organ or tissue if the cell possesses a receptor that specifically recognizes the chemokine that is present in the local environment. In this way, each chemokine-chemokine receptor combination may direct a different inflammatory response and this response can be tailored by the body based on the type of injury, irritation, or other threat. Different chemokines are made in different tissues at different times and different chemokine receptors are expressed on the surface of different types of inflammatory cells. Chemokines and other chemoattractants direct inflammatory responses by serving to precisely coordinate the movement of cells of the immune system. Inappropriate activity of the chemokine network is at the core of numerous autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. For example, in Crohn’s disease, dysregulation of either the chemokine CCL25 or the chemokine receptor to which it binds, CCR9, is thought to selectively attract inflammatory T cells to, and subsequently attack, tissues in the digestive tract.

Originally studied because of their role in inflammation, chemokines and their receptors are now known to play a crucial part in directing the movement of mononuclear cells throughout the body, engendering the adaptive immune response and contributing to the pathogenesis of a variety of diseases. Many chemokine/receptor pairs are expressed in tumours, not only by cancer cells but also by cells of the tumour microenvironment, including cells of the stroma (endothelial cells, fibroblasts) and leukocytes, thus contributing to the cross-talk between the tumour and its microenvironment to control tumour growth and progression. The interaction of chemokines, their receptors, growth factors, inflammatory with cancer cells forms a complex network at the tumour site, responsible for the overall progression or rejection of the tumour. In the malignancy context, chemokines play diverse effects, most of them deriving from their ability to induce cell migration. The ability of chemokines to enhance the motility of leukocytes, endothelial cells, and/or tumour cells is a key factor in determining the cancer establishment and progression. Depending on their specific expression pattern on target cells, on tumour type and on tumour microenvironment factors, several chemokines support malignancy, while others can at times inhibit this process. On the basis of these evidences, the characterization of the different chemokine networks in various types of cancer cells may foster better knowledge for understanding the immune-related mechanisms of cancer development and application in cancer immunotherapy.

Chemokines have potential as therapeutic agents in several ways. One can use modified antagonists of the proteins themselves or of their N-termini; use monoclonal antibodies directed either to a specific chemokine or to its receptor; and use small molecules that inhibit their receptors. Current knowledge of chemokine biology should propel the field toward a better understanding of the contribution that chemokine dysregulation makes to chronic inflammation, excess or impaired angiogenesis, and, equally important but more challenging, their role in pathological wound healing. Available information in preclinical and clinical settings suggests that the chemokine system represents a valuable target for the development of innovative therapeutic strategies.

<a

All these have played a colossal position in human health. What measures do medicinal experts use to gauge the safety and effectivity of these medical products and devices? Does the FDA or the Food and Drug Administration safeguard the population from adverse effects of some of the products formulated by pharmaceutical companies? A meticulous process is involved before a medical product is commercialized. The vast facts gathered from the trials will give out as starting point in assessing whether a drug conforms to standards or not. However, this is an costly procedure for pharmaceutical companies and a good number companies take time in finishing this process. Evidently, this procedure offers a bit burden to pharmaceutical companies.

Contract study organizations aids pharmaceutical companies in this respect. These organizations concentrates on clinical trials monitoring. This will then permit contract investigation organizations to do research and evaluation for their client pharmaceutical companies. This allow client pharmaceutical companies to focus in developing their products and offers them more funding for other essential projects. Research organizations of this nature are composed of highly trained and well-versed professionals in the field of clinical trials monitoring. They only hire top-caliber scientists adept in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical equipments, and healthcare to produce the a good number comprehensive evaluation possible before it is presented to client companies and eventually to the public.

These organizations ascertain that protocols are observed and monitoring is meticulously implemented throughout the duration of the trial. Rules and regulations are implemented for the duration of the trial and it conforms to FDA policies. Should a difficulty happen, which is a common scenario; contract inquiries organizations give corrective measures to remedy problems and anticipates the paperwork necessary to assure their clients that the obstacle will be resolved. Transparency is implemented througout the trial to ensure the credibility of the appraisal and assessment made by contract examination organizations in clinical trials monitoring. This is where the pharmaceutical companies base their improvements and alterations to the medical product they are producing to give quality healthcare for everyone.

Q-trials Ltd. is a These days, it pays to be a savvy shopper no matter what it is that you’re shopping for. When it comes to prescription drugs, one way to save money is by using an internet pharmacy that enables you to purchase prescription drugs online. Buying medication online is usually a less expensive method of filling prescriptions than going to a local pharmacy, so many people appreciate the cost savings and convenience of an online pharmacy.

Prescriptions Required

There are a few things to be cautious about when shopping for prescriptions online. There are many internet pharmacies that claim to sell prescription drugs without a prescription from a doctor. Beware of these types of websites. It may bepossible for you to obtain these drugs online, but you never really know what you’re getting because this type of internet pharmacy may not have a medical license. Some of the online pharmacies claim to have doctors on staff, but how can you rely on a doctor that you’ve never met or talked to ensuring that you’re getting the proper prescription and dosage?

Your best plan of action, if you want to take advantage of the discounts available from buying prescription drugs online, is to get a prescription from your doctor first. Then, you need to find a reputable internet pharmacy that offers legitimate medications.

Luckily, you don’t have to dive blindly into your search for a good online pharmacy. There are resources such as PharmacyEscrow services that investigate each pharmacy, and only work with the most reputable. When you purchase through a pharmacy escrow service you know that the pharmacies have been screened, are licensed, and adhere to strict guidelines.

Avoiding Counterfeit Medication

There are many internet pharmacies that sell counterfeit medications, so it’s best to make sure you investigate any online pharmacy before buying your prescription drugs online.

A recent report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development stated that 75% of the world’s counterfeit medications originate from India, followed by 7% from Egypt, and 6% from China. Most of the issues with counterfeit or fake prescription medication is a lower dose of active ingredient than advertised. Sometimes, medications are simply sugar pills with no active drug found. But, in some cases, fake medications are actually a
completely different drug altogether, which is dangerous and potentially fatal.

So it’s best to let the experts regulate the pharmacies online, and choose a reputable service from which to purchase your prescription drugs online.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive alternative to getting prescription drugs from a local pharmacy, then utilizing an internet pharmacy to buy prescription drugs online can be a very handy method of saving money. As long as you’re careful and choose a reliable and trustworthy online pharmacy, you could end up saving yourself a lot of money on your prescription medications.

Killing the Drug Addiction in a Rehab Center

Medicine

depression treatment

depression treatment center

depression treatment program

drug rehab program

drug treatment center

drug treatment programs

rehab centers

Sober living and aftercare

substance abuse
<guid

In United States only, the toll of people getting addicted to drugs reaches almost half a million every year and no one can do anything to stop this from spreading. Even if the govt. take any step to prevent people from taking drugs by banning some lethal drugs, the addicted people shift to those drugs which are legal or continue their addiction secretly. Drug addiction mainly occurs when people get physically and mentally dependent on the drugs and cannot stay without them. At this moment, the drugs take total control over the addicted person’s mind and body and there is almost nothing that person can do to get rid of the addiction. However, treatment for curing drug addiction is available nowadays in plenty; hundreds of drug rehab centers have grown up all over the world. If you find any person close to you, is getting addicted to some kind of drugs, then get him or her admitted in a rehab center as soon as possible. It is the only way to save that person from death.

The rehab centers follow several processes to cure the drug addicted patients; among them the drug detox program is one the most important. In this treatment process, the drug rehab centers follow several techniques to eliminate the toxic drug particles from the body of the addicted patients. This process is often considered as the most important part of the total drug addiction treatment process. Most well known addiction treatment centers perform this detox program for curing the patients. Just after this treatment process, the withdrawal effects show up. Withdrawal effects are painful but it is a positive sign of the treatment. If these withdrawal effects do not show up, then it is for sure that the medicinal treatment is not working. However, the withdrawal effects of drug addiction are extremely painful; the addicts find it extremely difficult to tolerate it. In some cases, it has also been recorded that the addicted people run away from the rehab centers, when they cannot tolerate the pain anymore.

Such incidents are really unfortunate and prove to be a complete failure of the drug addiction treatment process. The drug rehab centers must provide good care and provide a suitable environment to the addicted patients to deal with such situation. Along with proper medicinal treatment, care and comfort contributes a lot in the addiction treatment process. These two factors help the patients a lot in the treatment process to deal with the pain of the withdrawal effects and overcome it. They help the wild patients to stay calm and cool, and win over the withdrawal effects of the drug addiction. Treatment in a rehab center is very essential for the people suffering from drug addiction; it is the only place where the drug addicted people can win over their nasty addiction habit and get back to their normal life.

Three Reasons Why Doctors Should Care About Medical Tourism

Medicine

Medical Tourism, defined by Deloitte as the process of “leaving home” for treatments and care abroad or elsewhere domestically, is growing rapidly. The recent US healthcare reform debate has heightened awareness of global care that is affordable, high quality, accessible, and, in some instances, not available or approved in the US. These options are so attractive, that, according to

Deloitte, an estimated 750,000 US citizens traveled abroad for medical care in 2007 and the number is expected to accelerate. Another 400,000 people came to the US for care.

Patients seek global healthcare options due to the value that they may find, they are more accessible, treatments are not available or approved in their home country, they desire privacy or they want to combine care with a travel component. As a result, doctors are seeing patients who want information about international alternatives, seek referrals to trusted overseas providers and ask that their caregivers participate in the process. Some physicians and surgeons refuse to do so. They are afraid of liability, don’t want to take care of patients when they don’t get paid for doing the surgery, and they dislike working with “high maintenance” patients. They already feel overworked and have no interest in cramming more patients “cruising the Internet for care” into their busy schedules. What’s more, with the looming threat that millions more Americans will be getting government subsidized care, things are likely to get even worse.

In addition, surgeons feel uncomfortable with a different model that redefines continuity of care. Some patients are looking for providers at home who will assume their care after they are treated elsewhere. While this is no different than what happens when a patient returns home after treatment at a specialized domestic facility, like an internationally recognized cancer or radiation therapy center, unfamiliarity with the quality and reputation of overseas centers, bias, and legal concerns linger. In addition, the reimbursement for pre- and postoperative care may not be high enough to justify getting involved.

Inbound global referrals will continue to grow. Not changing will result in losing those referrals.

Fluctuating global exchange rates, the internationalization of healthcare and of medical societies, easier access to information, access and cost pressures on foreign health systems, the reputation of the quality of US healthcare and transparency in quality and price are a few of the drivers of inbound or domestic referrals.

Some hospitals and their medical staffs, seeing this as an opportunity to grow and capture market share, are creating the facilities, policies and procedures to accommodate foreign patients eager to pay out of pocket for readily available, high quality care and services. A critical success factor for inbound medical services is the cooperation of the medical staff in accommodating the sometimes unique needs and desires of foreign patients. There may be little or no incentive to do so.

Business processes and healthcare information communications technologies will need to accommodate inbound and outbound global referrals. Failure to do so will result in missed opportunities to grow your practice.

Physicians will need to design their business processes and information systems to accommodate patients either coming from other countries or wanting to go elsewhere for care. Telemedicine consultations, online interactions and global information exchange will increasingly be the norm.

Doctors will need to deal with postoperative care insurance, alternative reimbursement mechanisms for delivering care that is not face-to-face, and healthcare insurance companies offering a medical tourism benefit to their patients. This will force doctors and their staffs to learn to work with new entities like medical tourism facilitators, case managers and international health office representatives. While medical tourism is growing, there are significant barriers to widespread adoption. These include, among others, establishing normalized quality of care measures, malpractice issues, health insurance coverage, continuity of care challenges, international health care information exchange, security and confidentiality, global infection disease control, and the challenge of developing trusted international referral relationships.

While these obstacles are daunting, I believe they will be rapidly overcome and medical tourism will continue to emerge as an attractive option for a small but significant part of the healthcare marketplace. Surgeons should educate themselves and prepare for the change. They can do so by staying abreast of the growth of medical tourism and the issues it presents, change their practice habits to incorporate internet facilitated care, and work with practice partners, such as their hospitals, medical tourism facilitators and medical specialty societies to incorporate inbound or outbound referrals into their practices.

Arthritis Sufferers! There are side effects, of course, but these are worth suffering in order to alleviate the awful pain of arthritis. And you can take more, different drugs to counteract the side effects of Simponi.

There has to be a better way. We are not the first generation to suffer the total debilitation associated with arthritis. Arthritis has been around forever. We’re told that no cause can be pinpointed and there is NO cure. Really? Yes, really!

Forgive my skepticism. We can dance on the moon. We can genetically modify plants by splicing unrelated DNA making them bigger, stronger, better. Well, “better” is a subjective term. Better for agri business. Not better for the farmers and for us. But that’s another story for another day.

Do the drug companies and their medical henchmen expect us to believe that arthritis can be neither prevented nor cured? Yes. They do. There are countless billions to be made from the pain of millions of arthritis sufferers. Finding the cause or cure would halt the gravy train. And we can’t have that! Yes we can! We need to get away from the “Feel pain? Take a pill” mentality fostered by Big Drug, aided and abetted by our own FDA.

Do not, for one moment, think that because the FDA licenses a drug that it’s safe for you and your loved ones. It is not. Remember Vioxx and all the other killers passed by the FDA, which actually knew or should have known of their lethal side effects. The FDA is, at best, ineffective and inefficient and, at worst, totally corrupt, held in thrall to the money splashed around by Big Drug.

You die as a direct result of taking the latest biologic? Collateral damage. You contract TB or cancer? More collateral damage. Just one of those things.

Before you start a serious drug regimen, try some natural remedies. Change your diet. Nothing too drastic:

Cut coffee for a month. You might have some withdrawal symptoms but you really will notice that your arthritis pain and swelling has decreased and you’re more supple.

Cut citrus for a month. This is really hard for those of us who think citrus fruits were invented by the gods. But try it for a month. You will see results.

Wear a copper bracelet. Chances are that your copper reserves are depleted. Wearing a copper bracelet will supplement them. I know. I know. Old wives tale. Not so. Notice how many lotion and potion manufacturers are now adding copper to their products? Copper is essential to wellbeing and we don’t get it from our diet.

The manufacturers of Simponi, Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc., rely on you to be influenced by their warm and fuzzy TV ads and request that your rheumatologist prescribe Simponi for you. And thousands will. You should not.

The United States and New Zealand are the only countries on earth which allow drug manufacturers to advertise directly to the public. Targeting people in pain really pays off for these leeches. Before you think of requesting Simponi, please read the disclaimer below. It was published by Centocor Ortho Biotech Inc. and it is truly hair raising.

Read. Digest. Avoid like the plague.

SIMPONI™ can lower your

infections like histoplasmosis or coccidioidomycosis are common.

You should not start SIMPONI™ if you have any kind of infection. Tell your
doctor if you are prone to or have a history of infections or have

you are currently being treated for an infection or if you have or develop
any signs of an infection such as:

fever, sweat, or chills
muscle aches

weight loss
warm, red, or painful skin or sores on your body
diarrhea or stomach pain
burning when you urinate or urinate more than normal

SIMPONI™ is the first monthly self-injectable ant-TNF therapy approved to
treat adults with:

Moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with the medicine methotrexate
Active psoriatic arthritis (PsA) alone or with the medicine methotrexate
Active ankylosing spondylitis (AS)
Just one dose of SIMPONI™ monthly works to relieve the signs and symptoms
of RA, PsA, and AS. Results may not be the same for everyone. Once you and
your doctor are comfortable with the self-injection process, you will
inject SIMPONI™ once a month under the skin.

Unusual cancers have been reported in children and teenage patients taking
TNF-blocker medicines. For children and adults taking TNF blockers,
including SIMPONI™, the chances for getting lymphoma or other cancers may

carriers of this virus and are taking TNF-blocker medicines, such as
SIMPONI™. Some of these cases have been fatal. Your doctor may do blood
